Lesbian comedians vs. heterosexual ones

I saw this on one of these sites about why are comedians are male and lesbians. That you had retort blogs mentioning about straight comedians. I put this here because I wrote on that site but I had to be a member. Here is my take.

I tend to like the ones who are lesbians because as a minorities they seem comfortable to differences. They aren't as attached to the inner circle or their comedy world like heterosexual ones such as Tina Fey and Tracey Ullmann. Likewise, lesbian comedians tend to be innovators and improvisers while comedians like Tina and Tracey tend to be over-schooled and are very attached to that particular method or system (my opinion, they have taken a lot from Lily Tomlin). Kate Clinton can combine both while Ellen is just Ellen. Finally, what do heterosexual women have to laugh about if they got a great husband with kids and life that is going well?

Okay, if the husband is bad as well as the kids and life stinks, you can have a good laugh. But it comes across as desperate and annoying. Joan Rivers comes to mind as well as Phyllis Diller (she really used techniques but when they failed tended to go put-downs). In addition, they tend to put themselves down to get the quick, double negative feedback from the audience. That is why Tina others used the technique method so they don't have to be dependent on the audience. But that comes across as snobbish which is why the Sarah Pallin one is effective in the short term but long term, it becomes a pit-down tool.
